'Real Pumpkin' Spice Steamer/Latte (Dairy/Soy Free)

Yep, it's that time of year again. Everyone is talking about them...Pumpkin Spice Lattes! I admit it... I too am one of those people who anticipates the yearly holiday drink offerings at my local Starbucks store. We're like kids waiting for Santa! However now- a-days with coffee, dairy, soy AND sugar on my 'naughty list', I must fend for myself and forge a new way to get my yearly holiday drink fix. So here it is, my Pumpkin Spice Steamer! I made this a little extra spicy. You may want to play with the amount of spices to find your perfect mix of spice and even sweetness.

'Real Pumpkin' Spice Steamer

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups full fat coconut Milk (try Natural Value which is BPA and guar gum free)
1 cup filtered water (or more coconut milk at a ratio  you like)
Alternatively you could use 2 1/2 cups of cashew/almond/raw milk

Alternatively you could replace the above ingredients with 2 1/2 cup home made coconut milk

6 Tbls   fresh roasted pumpkin
1 tsp  ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp  ground ginger
1/4 tsp  ground cloves
1/4 tsp  nutmeg
2 tsp  vanilla extract
2 - 3 Tbls or more raw honey/agave

Optional: Add a 1 tea bag of your favorite black tea or red tea(steep while heating, about 4 min) for a great Pumpkin Chai Tea.

Or replace some of the water for a shot of espresso or 1/4 cup of brewed coffee  for a Pumpkin Spice Latte. I like to use all full fat coconut milk when making lattes.

Directions:

Place all ingredients in a blender. Blend till well combined and smooth.
Either pour over ice or heat in a small sauce pan till it just breaks into a boil. Sprinkle with a little extra nutmeg... Serve and enjoy!

  5. that looks delish! fyi, I stopped using canned coconut milk. I think I was getting sick from the additives, and I've found coconut milk really easy to make from shredded coconut.

    1. The canned coconut I use has zero additives and is BPAFree. Just coconut and water. try Natural Value. They also have an organic one. I also make my own coconut milk, just depends what I am making.

  7. BPA free products have BPS-- look it up

I made this recipe and it was heavenly. Like drinking pumpkin pie.

I made coconut milk, and used fresh ginger and vanilla bean. I threw a whole clove into the blender which works fine instead of using pre ground. I also threw in a drop or two of ginger and clove essential oil while heating. I brewed a bag of chai in it and I think that's what made it great. It was good hot but after a night in the fridge it is even better cold.

    1. I am aware of that. Another good option is getting it in the boxes if making it is to big a task for some and more cream is desired. Coconut milk is NOT something I use daily so I am not to concerened about it. I am more than happy for people to do what they are comfortable with.I have enough other limitatios to concern myself with. Glad you enjoyed the recipe!

  9. Yum! I used organic soy because I like it and it's what I had on hand, skipped the nutmeg because I didn't have any (holiday fail) and served it to my husband who threw out his beer in favor of this drink (healthy win.
Thanks U.P. for making my husband a little sexier.
