Holy CURRY Batman! (Recipe) of my favorites! Bright, bold and beautiful! Turmeric is an aromatic herb and has many useful functions for the body. It has a mild pungent flavor and is known for being a blood purifier and digestive aid. Turmeric is also known for soothing respiratory ailments such as cough and asthma as well as being anti-arthritic and a natural anti-bacterial agent. This herb has even proven useful in helping to balance blood sugar levels. The benefits of turmeric seem almost endless

One easy and tasty way to add turmeric to you diet is with CURRY! There are so many wonderful things to be made with curry...even some things that your kids will love.

First things first...a good curry is a must. I find most super market curries to be to dark and heavy in flavor, often lacking in freshness. So here is one of my favorite curry recipes. I play with the ratios from time to time just to change things up. Most often though, this is the combination I use most of the time.

The Great Curry Recipe

2 tablespoons whole cumin seeds, toasted
2 tablespoons whole cardamom seeds, toasted
2 tablespoons whole coriander seeds, toasted
1/4 cup ground turmeric
1 tablespoon dry mustard
1 teaspoon cayenne(optional)

Option 1(easiest):  Use already ground spices in the same proportions and dry roast the whole mix in a pan on med-high heat , stirring constantly till the whole mixture darkens just a bit.  It will smell awesome and mellow out the tumeric.

Option 2(a bit more work but the freshest choice):  Dry roast the whole spices together over medium heat till the spices just begin to pop. Cool. Place all ingredients in a container with an airtight lid. Store in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.  When ready to use, grind and add to dishes according to taste.
